I finally have a functioning Flickr account! In future posts the pictures will link directly to a folder of more of those sets!
The Holiday's Are Almost Here!
Weeks of hard work are paying off. The Gwinnett Tech annual Holiday Portraits has been our major concentration for the last few weeks and it is all coming together now.

Little Boy, Big Pumpkins
Today we turned in our Feature assignment for Photo Journalism. I used a shot I took at Burt's Pumpkin Patch last Saturday.
I was very confused at first what the definition of a feature was but when I went through them I saw this picture and saw the humor. This is a 23 month old trying to push a wheelbarrow that contains a pumpkin bigger than he is.

Crazy Kids!
Today I went to my mother's class room to help out and to take some pictures to put in the yearbook of her kids doing the classroom thing. This is one of her children, Joshua and he is a ham!
Also today was picture day and all I have to say is what we are learning is a drastic difference to what is passing as portraiture in some places. Oh I can't wait to get my shingle out there.

Touchdown Test
Yesterday I attended the annual Pi Kappa Phi Alumni Football game. I decided to take some shots to practice sports photography.
These came out a lot better than my first attempt but I still have a lot to learn about anticipating the action but over all i am content with my progress!

Pet Goats?
Today I attended my boyfriends alumni picnic for his fraternity and was introduced to the newest pet, Lavern. As you can see she is not your ordinary house pet. She is a goat!
I had a lot of fun trying to get new and original shots of her. In this picture I used a macro lens to highlight the contortions of the mouth and let the rest of the her face fall out of focus. You can check out some of my other shots by clicking on the picture.

Shades of Gray
In Portraiture yesterday we shot high and low key situations. I chose to shoot my sister Katie in a high key with cards flying around her. This was not the best choice. Not only did I have to fight the white backdrop to keep in white but getting the cards to fly proved to be near impossible.
In the end the whole thing became a wash. I think I am going to dabble in low key next time, and think of a more stationary prop.

Pumpkin Takeover!
Today was spent at Burt's Pumpkin Farm in Dawsonville, Georgia. They had literally thousands of pumpkins and thousands of people to go with them. The pumpkins came in every size, shape and color imaginable. I went out on a hunt for my feature for journalism and came out with quite a few nice shots! Here is my favorite. . .
This is Morgan and she was having the fun that I wish I could have had with the pumpkins. What I would give to be young again.

Why Lowe's Rocks!
Today I went out searching for a business that would be kind enough to donate a few pieces of plywood and 2x4s to help us build the set for our holiday portrait. Well I started by going to the home improvement store by my house but they said that they couldn't help me so I drove down the street to the Lowe's.
With in seconds of walking in the door the manager had people helping me get the wood and load it up! Lowe's is awesome in my book! I can't wait for the set to be built so I can take them a picture of what they helped make possible.

"I'll Never Grow Up! Not Me"
So yesterday we had the opportunity to do children's portraiture, and it was a blast! I think that it is the most fun I have had in a long time doing studio portraiture. We were shooting kids between the ages of 1-6 years and learning to deal with all of the little challenges that come with that age group. There were wailers, runners, and gigglers, but in the end they all turned out absolutely adorable! I think I may have found a new passion in children's portraiture.
Here is one of the great shoots that I got of 3 year old Jase, that I had the honor of shooting yesterday.

Hear Comes the Bride!
This weekend I had the honor of shooting the wedding of a friend of mine. It was quite an experience. I learned a lot about positioning to get the shot and ended up with some excellent shots. I will try to upload a few of the shots when they are ready.
